CTGR has completed the installation of the world's first all-steel single-column composite cylinder foundation for its 300MW offshore wind farm in Guangdong Province on March 19.

With a diameter of 36 meters, the foundation base covers an area equivalent to 2.5 standard-size basketball courts. The pressure difference between the inside and outside of the cylinder is formed by the suction pump, enabling it to sink into the bearing stratum under the action of negative pressure.

The single-column composite cylinder foundation is a new type of foundation innovatively developed by CTG’s Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute for offshore wind power projects in the complex geological environment of offshore deep-water areas in Guangdong and Fujian provinces. It is designed to address the engineering challenges such as deep water, large waves, shallow bedrock and short construction window.
